Our Summer 2023 cohort will gain hands-on experience working at a grassroots community advocacy organization. Interns will select one or more research projects that they will lead under the supervision of FHS staff members. Projects can range from community advocacy to data utilization. Interns will also participate in outreach activities, volunteer events, media relations, and educational opportunities. Interns will receive one-on-one mentorship from FHS staff as well as academic and professional development.
Interns have the opportunity to gain insight and experience in community advocacy and political mobilization, cultivate marketable skills to enhance their academic and professional career, create impactful projects for the benefit of the organization, build relationships with other local nonprofits, meet local politicians and leaders, network with professionals in the nonprofit field, and connect with community members.
This program offers a stipend as well as the opportunity for academic credit. Hours are flexible (and class schedules/requirements will be taken into consideration), but 10-15hrs/week is standard with some weekend work required.
