About the event

**THIS EVENT IS NOW FULL. WE CANNOT ACCEPT ANYMORE RSVPS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST.**

A community trail maintenance event hosted by DLNR will be held Aug. 17 on Moanalua Middle Ridge.

Special access will be provided to those willing and able to provide trail maintenance aimed at reopening the trail in the future.

This first outing will focus on water diversion efforts -- creating channels for water to flow away from the trail and building obstructions to slow the speed of water so that it doesn't continue to erode the ridge. Work will include digging, cutting, chopping, shoveling and similar. Some tools and materials will be provided by DLNR, but volunteers with pick axes and digging tools should bring what they can. Experienced group leaders will provide direction, so you'll have a chance to learn about trail maintenance from professionals.

*Note: This is a limited access opportunity. Moanalua Middle Ridge is not open to the public. Volunteers will gain access to perform trail maintenance with this group on this day only. Those with 4x4 vehicles will be permitted to drive all the way to the back of the valley to start right at the foot of the ridge.

If you love hiking Oahu, this is your chance to give back to the mountains from which we all draw our inspiration. These community opportunities don't come along very often. Come be part of something.
